OVERVIEW

The Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and rewarding ways to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. This 8-day trek offers gradual acclimatization, breathtaking landscapes from rainforest to alpine desert, and the ultimate sunrise atop Uhuru Peak. Ideal for adventurous travelers seeking a mix of challenge, nature, and stunning vistas.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet your Sheventures Safari guide and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Attend a briefing on the climb and overnight stay.

Drive to Londorossi Gate for park registration. Trek through lush rainforest to Big Tree Camp (approx. 5–6 hours). Enjoy your first night camping under the forest canopy.

Climb out of the rainforest onto the Shira Plateau. Trek across moorlands with views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp (approx. 6–7 hours).

Continue trekking across the Shira Plateau toward higher altitudes. Enjoy spectacular landscapes and views of the Lava Tower. Overnight at Shira 2 or Moir Camp (approx. 5–6 hours).

Ascend to the Lava Tower (4,630 m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. Optional challenge: climb the Barranco Wall. Overnight at Barranco Camp (approx. 7–8 hours).

Descend into the Karanga Valley and then trek to Barafu Camp (4,600 m), the base for the summit attempt. Overnight at Barafu Camp (approx. 6–7 hours).

Start midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) for sunrise — the highest point in Africa! Descend via Mweka Route to Mweka Camp. Celebrate the successful climb (approx. 12–14 hours).

Complete the descent to the Mweka Gate, receive your summit certificate, and transfer back to Arusha. Depending on your schedule, connect to your onward flight or overnight in Arusha.
